Description

The Liverpool of Liverpool launched in 1888, the largest sailing vessel ever built on the Clyde, taking jute from Calcutta to Dundee. Captain Thomas Calder of Scarfskerry took command on her maiden voyage at the age of 36. Also on board was ship's carpenter Sinclair Gunn Calder, aged 41 from Brough, the captains older brother.
This painting is by Harry Brotchie and now owned by Ella Coghill.
