These gas masks would have been like those Danny Begg describes having in his story of ‘Fog in Brough’, when a strange smell comes up from Brough Harbour in the thick fog. They think it might be gas, but are not sure. The year is 1939. This gas mask is in Mary-Ann’s Cottage, Westside, Dunnet. Mary-Ann is Danny Begg’s aunt.
