Polish Airmen at Brough Harbour and at Castletown aerodrome.

Many Lochs air to ground firing range. In the shallwo valley at the southern food of Burifa Hill is a series of lochs running east -west, called Many Lochs. During WW2 this valley was used as a firing range for fighter aircraft from nearby RAF Castletown and RAF Wick.. At the western end of the valley the ground rises to a ridge on top of which was erected a large target on a scaffolding frame for the Hurricanes and Spitfires to practice air-to-ground firing, using 303 machine gun and 20mm cannon.
